Everyone likes to travel...

but we rarely meet someone who has set foot on all of the continents. There are so many magical destinations, that it is nearly impossible to pick just one for the trip of your dreams. Therefore, before making a decision, we listen to either our heart or our wallet and we embark on a trip with our finger across the map.

For all those, who have been deprived of trips to remote corners of the world, as well as those without the time for digging through countless travel guides, we have prepared just this page. We have placed here, the travel recollections and impressions collected by Artur Kołpak, a fervent globetrotter employed by our company.

Over the river, through the Amazon

The idea of floating down the Marañón River through the heart of a tropical jungle was not as easy to realize as it sounds. This is after all, one of the largest rivers of the Amazon on the landscapes of Peru. The adventures that I encountered during this escapade, would exceed my wildest expectations.

Where Indians Dwell

In the Mexican state of Chiapas is nestled the San Juan Chamula village. It is where Indians live, who for hundreds of years have conserved their language, customs and culture. Indians from the Tzotzil tribe have inhabited these parts since times long forgotten. In 1484 they were conquered by the Mayan Indian tribes and assimilated with them. Only after the year 1527, when they were attacked by Spanish Conquistadors, had they managed to escape their subjugator's repression and take shelter in the inaccessible mountains of the state of Chiapas.

Fishing the Amazon

“Kill it! Kill it immediately!!!” the Indian threw himself in my direction and knocked the piranha out of my hand. Then he hit it several times with the edge of the machete. The fish shook in deadly convulsions. After a moment it became motionless. “Are you crazy?!”- I questioned my Indian guide. “Don’t ever take a live piranha into your hands” – he retorted. ”I once saw a certain man hold a live piranha on a hand line, just the way you did a moment ago. Suddenly it jumped up in the air and with one squeeze of its jaw, it tore his finger, clean off”.

Airline journals

I have experienced a variety of different escapades during a number of my airplane journeys. I have been an eyewitness to more than one fainting, heart attack, bout of liver colic, premature childbirth, asthma attack, turbulence. There is one story from out of all of them, that left a long-lasting impression on me and despite the fact that so many years have passed, is still vivid in my mind.

Madera

When Portuguese explorers discovered an island on the Atlantic in the year 1914, which they named Madera, they probably knew where they were going and what it was that they were looking for. Yet the island had been known much earlier. The Phoenicians had already discovered it in ancient times. Almost certainly using one of the past generations drafted maps, trustworthy men serving the Portuguese King Henry the Sailor sought confirmation of their own suspicions and surrounding legends.

Taxco - silver city

The majority of tourists arriving in Mexico almost immediately, rush for Acapulco or the Yucatan peninsula. Meanwhile, only one hundred and sixty kilometers from the capital and along the old highway to Acapulco is the magnificently situated city of Taxco the mountainside town famous for its inimitable silver jewelry.

Mushrooming with the Ambasador

During numerous trips around the world I have sampled a variety of dishes, sometimes truly bizarre. At times out of curiosity, at times it was impolite to refuse and at times it was just simply out of hunger. Once when walking through the Zoo, it occurred to me that most of the animals that can be seen there have previously graced my plate.

Yemen

Yemen is not synonymous with a good reputation. It is in this country that the Al-Qaida make their home and the BinLaden name is no less popular than the Wiśniewski name is with us. The semi-automatic AK-47 universally known as the Kalashnikov, can be purchased for mere tens of dollars. All kinds of rifles are purchased as fast as cellular phones are in Europe. Weapons permits are handed down from father to son. But not until, he turns the age of twelve. Dare to travel to Yemen, into the mouth of the lion, to see what lays inside? And why not?

Peking - an adventure with tea

It is high noon. It is sizzling and noisy outside of Peking but here it is pleasant, cool and cozy. I am seated comfortably in a Chinese tearoom and am savoring Chaa. The word "Chaa" means tea in Chinese.

Peking - A Snake in Peking

A Chinese person will eat anything that swims, with the exception of a submarine. Everything that flies except a plane and everything that crawls except a tank.
